Google puts iGoogle on Canvas

Sardar Mohkim Khan

image-thumb87 Google puts iGoogle on CanvasiGoogle has provided me with a one stop access to all the information I need to have my hands at across the Web. Be it feeds, weather or reading news, the only problem I ever faced was that of a new window opening up with every click. It appears that Google has taken this into account and has decided to roll out a major update for the iGoogle.

The update eliminates the need of users having to leave  the iGoogle page and clicking on every item (a.k.a gadget) spreads it across the page. The feature is called the Canvas View and does a good job of putting the news right there on the iGoogle page. This means a lot for both the users as well as those behind the gadgets, firstly easing users by letting them use/view gadgets at one place  and secondly it provides a larger area for ads to breath.

The service is to launch for the users in the U.S and already has a number of gadgets with the canvas-view functionality enabled. The sites include the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, various games that include Sudoku etc. The navigation is easy with your entire listing on the left side of the gadgets.

iGoogle is used by many, but with this update it’s going to offer more to its users.
