Google has recently announced a latest version (2.2) of Google Maps for the mobile phones making them accessible through all smart cell phones.
The application will be a 24-7 powerful guide for all peoples on the move providing them with useful information about buses and train transits directions. It is covering more than 40 cities of North America along with Chicago, the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, Vancouver (already available on the desktop Google map).
The downloadable app of Google Maps for mobiles offers some valuable features that
were lacking in the web Google map..The My Location feature (currently its in beta phase) allows you to check your own location as where are you standing? what is around you, what time would it take to be at any point or what would be the nearest place for you to have a piece of pizza when all of a sudden you really feel hungry!!! this seems to be a great source of help for users. It is supported by devices with or without GPS. You can view the video of how this feature works, here.
Apart from this, user can look for all the transits of a day enabling them to have a quick review of the last transit trip. Faster searching on BlackBerry and ratings for businesses really makes it all the more different.
The version is currently supporting BlackBerry devices and other Java-based phones. You can download it here.
As the web Google map version had already been a great help for its users, it seems like this new map version would also be a great hit as it is promoting an innovative and popular idea of giving valuable information about different trains and buses routes along with transit directions straight on to your cell phone.
