Google Map Maker now available in 17 more Asian countries

Google Map Maker LogoGoogle Map maker, a service which was launched almost three months ago, is now available for seventeen more Asian countries. the service lets users participate in the process of making the map by giving options such as adding points, drawing lines (roads, railway, etc.) and shapes (lake, local parks etc.). Google Map Maker has a YouTube channel where you can find user help videos and timelapse videos which shows how the map has changed with time.

Following is the timelapse video of Lahore, Pakistan as released by Google Map Maker:

There are a lot of cases where users have designed the whole map of the city from scratch. This effort has been appreciated by Google. The countries added are mostly of Central Asia. Following is the list of countries added:

  • Armenia
  • Azerbaijan
  • Bangladesh
  • Bhutan

  • Cambodia
  • Iran
  • Kazakhstan
  • Kyrgyzstan
  • Laos
  • Mongolia
  • Myanmar (Burma)
  • Nepal
  • Philippines
  • Sri Lanka
  • Tajikistan
  • Turkmenistan
  • Uzbekistan

Previously the service was made available for 40 island nations. You can view the complete list of 77 countries which are eligible for this service here.
