With time Google continues to improve Google Map as it populates it with more places and landmarks. This means that when you perform a search in a city, Google Maps will point out restaurants, museums and other prominent landmarks all by itself. This is pretty helpful for tourists in a new city who can easily figure out what spots to visit and make most out of their trip. When they click a landmark, etc on the map, a window opens up and displays them the location, contact number and a brief description about the place along with a link to Wikipedia, making sure that the user knows where and what exactly is the place. A pretty good improvement as always and I bet Google will make it more effective in times to come. Perhaps making it more visual.
