Google has been has growing concerns in relation to monetizing its major services that include YouTube and Image Search. While plans are up and running for YouTube, Google in order to go forth with its monetization plans has decided to come up with something for its Image Search as well.
Google’s Image Search had been missing out on around $200 million worth or yearly revenue for not including ads in the results obtained from search. Attempts had been made earlier with text results but it affected the traffic pretty much and the idea was eventually pulled down.
Although Google hasn’t confirmed this but Steve Poland had a screenshot of what it may be offering.
What it appears like is that there is no proper relation between what is typed in the search and the images that are being displayed. Although the idea to monetize a service may be much needed but Google should keep in mind before introducing any thing of the sort that it may not drive away users. Putting forward graphic ads for image searches would only make it appear far too crowded and irritating. Apart from that, the sponsored ad in the right corner, reading Guinness. If such irrelevant ads are to appear next to search results, users would definitely be turned off.

Oh, God, that’s disgusting. More spam is just what we need on the internet.
This is very unlike Google. They are very careful about making changes to their search properties. I think this was just another experimental thing.
We have seen many changes to the Adsense units before, this is just testing the waters in Image Advertising. Sneaky though!
Definitely not like Google, but hey, everything’s Beta for Google, so I suppose it might just be there for a test. I hope it’s not!
