Without making it big, Google has made some improvements to its Blog Search. The search engine was a bit shoddy, often delivering irrelevant results to the search you performed. According to Jeremy Hylton, Google’s head of search quality group the changes come in the engines algorithm affects the clusters that one sees on the front page of the Blog Search and would expanding the number of posts it clusters and improving the selection of blog posts. However, the best improvement is that of processing links much faster. This would help to ease out the selection of lead story, depending on who breaks it first and is most linked. However I badly hope that Google doesn’t fully rely on algorithmic approach and rather integrates human editing as well, other wise it will face the same problems that Techmeme did before it made the much needed improvements.
