I loved Google with all its simplicity but the recent inclusion of useless and really annoying update to the search. They call it user expectation and the need to stay abreast with the current needs to improve layout. In Google’s own words these changes make the search results snappy, fun and quirky.

I am not sure what’s quirky about these but honestly these updates look very childish and look ugly. It is quite simple to what you see at Google News and are supposed to make navigation easy. That might be correct but for many of you out there who dislike the left hand navigation as much as I do, you don’t need to worry much as it can be removed.

How?

The options are open for users of Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. You can simply download the extensions for both browsers here and here. These plugins make the left navigation an elective feature instead of having them appear. If you feel like you need the left option available you can simply have these options made visible by clicking the small icon in the corner of the browser.

I think this is much better and Google should actually provide this option by default instead of having it thrown in on users with every search result. And while users of Chrome and Firefox can be spared of this treachery those of you who still use the Internet Explorer will have to bear with it.
