Google Goggles to Give Search an Eye

So much for the text based search and with more powerful mobile devices being powered by even more powerful OS the visual search is bound to catch all the flare. Well Google is taking its search to the visual mode as it plans to release the same for its Android powered devices. Users can simply upload a photo and using the app can get relevant information associated to the items, places shown in the picture.

This is to be called the Google Goggles and to be honest it requires a lot of structuring and a massive database. Apparently this would be powered by Google acquired Neven Vision which has been into mobile visual search for quite some time and has quite a lot of patents under its belts for the same. To be honest, Google will do much better, given that it already has Street View that continues to expand far and beyond. Plus it would have the much needed database it requires for the Goggles.

Google has been busy expanding its search in almost every direction available and making it more convenient for people to perform the same. It last year released its app for the iPhone which enabled search by voice. All that expansion into different mediums is only going to have more Google everywhere and more database. I wonder if that would have people complaining more that Google’s searches produce high levels of CO2.
