Google has at last come to terms with the nagging lawsuit that termed Google’s idea of digitizing books was illegal. Though the settlement is yet to be given a green light by U.S District Court for New York’s Southern District.
Google will have to pay $125 million and Google on the other end will have the liberty to display a larger part of these books for buyers who can then take a decision wisely. Also Google has set up Book Rights Registry that would integrate royalty system in order to reward authors and publishers with more accessibility to their content. It would also enable revenue sharing, increase book sales by allowing institutional subscriptions. This in short points out to a massive online library for all those book lovers around the world.
