image-thumb173 Google Chrome launches Dev Channel: Early Access to Features and FixesIt’s just been a few days since Google launched its browser Chrome with a lot of hype being created with all the success as well as quite a few controversies over user privacy and terms of its agreement. Google at present has come out with a developer program that enables users to try out the latest version of its browser.

Users who want to climb in with some testing for the latest version for the browser from the Dev Channel; the users have a choice with this, meaning they can choose to get their hands at the latest builds or continue with the much stable releases.

Dev Channel is actually giving Chrome users an access to upcoming features and those that are currently in development along with fixes for bugs etc. The idea will be to use user feedback and make sure the features run smooth before they are officially released.

The Channel is meant for the following:

  • Web Developers who want to test and run their sites with upcoming versions of Chrome
  • Testers who can help improve by reporting bugs and shortcomings

The procedure to update is simple and requires a setup to be downloaded. Once you run, it asks whether you want to be on the Beta or Dev channel, once done user can simply select the About Google Chrome where the browser updates itself and asks for a restart once the update is complete.

The Dev Channel has already come out with Google Chrome 0.2.152.1 and this version appears more to be for programmers than the general users. But it appears to be a positive sign as Google provides developers and users al across the Internet to personally test the latest feature and help at making the upgrades better with bug reports etc. I personally think that the idea may work quite well, given the countless developers eager to test out the upcoming features before hand and tip Google up with their own ideas. What remains to be seen is that if more controversies pop out with Dev Channel in a bid to sow the world that Google has everything to play with our privacy ( just for the heck of it).

its so much more then a browser. What do you think will happen to Firefox. Will the developers keep developing for Firefox or is Google the new Firefox. As for Privacy well, they know so much more then what we think they do. I know our developers at the office are impressed and getting involved.
