Google Chrome coming up; Microsoft has another to battle with

image thumb10 Google Chrome coming up; Microsoft has another to battle with Looks like Google has finally taken the charge to assault Microsoft by breaking news of its browser. Google Chrome is the latest attempt by Google to thwart all the existing masters of the field and give nightmares to them. Open Source, remains the basic formula and as always Google is there to throw out to developers an idea it has been working upon for quite some time.

What Google has done is to build this browser from scratch; meaning that they have worked upon the project from the very core that from which the browsers have evolved. This involves taking up ideas from other open source browsers like Firefox.

The browsers have turned come a long way; from text filled pages to ones that support high resolution graphics and videos. The evolution has been so rapid that they have become an operating system within themselves. Chrome is another one in line with tools that (might?) would make stand out amongst the rest and speed is one of them. As the blog mentions:

Like the classic Google homepage, Google Chrome is clean and fast. It gets out of your way and gets you where you want to go.

With sandboxed tabbing position of tabs being moved to the top of the window instead of the conventional ‘below the bar’ position. Chrome offers high speed browsing and has been built on the V8, JavaScript Engine that helps boost the speed and enhance the browsing experience. Google also adds that they are using:

“multi-process design” which they say means “a bit more memory up front” but over time also “less memory bloat.” When web pages or plug-ins do use a lot of memory, you can spot them in Chrome’s task manager, “placing blame where blame belongs.”

What other factor makes its entry worth is that newer browsers have gained a lot of popularity. Firefox for example has rapidly grown to muster enough users to stand against the IE; which itself controls almost 70% of the browser market. Clearly, the present immigration of users to browser(s) other than IE indicates that if one offers a better browsing experience, users will definitely feel the urge to switch over.

Now Chrome has got an added advantage, the name Google attached to it. This makes the whole process of marketing and distribution to be spread over massive scale and might just provide a kick off that any new browser would dream to have.

Why did Google feel the need to launch its own browser? Why shouldn’t it? It’s got everything to try its hands at and more importantly it has the talent to produce things that are worthwhile, apart from that another reason could be Google’s fear of the IE8 taking the crunch away from Google, but that is quite speculative. The browser is set to make its entry anytime soon and it waits for a practical test before one can think of how successful it can actually be.

Google has also released its comic book for the Chrome that can be read here or downloaded in pdf.
