After launching the first Android based T-Mobile G1, Google has easy search to the phone that predicts what you might be looking for with search suggestions. The idea is to make Search an integrated, easy to use and platform-wide feature.
It definitely makes search easier, especially given the much difficult and small interface like a hand phone to perform one search task. And that to coming for a wide variety of applications with a possibility of performing search within different applications sounds pretty useful. Andy Stadler, an engineer in the Android Team writes in his blog post:
We’ve made Search easier to use by providing suggestions. As you type, the list of suggestions refines itself, and you’ll immediately jump to that search with a simple touch. There are two types of suggestions on the T-Mobile G1. Google web searches use Google Suggest technology to offer relevant, up-to-date suggestions. Other applications, like YouTube or Gmail, suggest queries you’ve previously made so that it’s easier to find and share results that you’ve found before.
The idea has been up for many web services and the suggestions based on users previous searches in relation to a topic and relevance to the query cuts short time of accessing information across the web. The concept isn’t new but bringing it to a mobile makes life easier for everyone and search a lesser pain to deal with. Android users would definitely welcome this one to make its way out.
