With the Android based G1 ready to roll out on Wednesday there are quite a lot of speculations about what exactly does it offer for the users. The phone is set to come out as a main challenge to the market leader in the category, the iPhone and has received a lot of buzz ever since the news about the platform circled the web sphere.
Jonathan Matus, Product Marketing Manager, Android writes about the Android coming in with support for a variety of Google services for free across various devices and Gmail is one of them. Definitely those of us who have been loyal Googlers would love to have all its products made available on the G1.
Matus has given a sneak at what Gmail on the G1 would look like. Based on what he says, the Gmail comes fully integrated into your G1, making account management, sharing and keeping up with your emails as simple as it can be. Users can make do with the push email feature to manage multiple accounts. This is done by letting users being notified instantly about new email, no matter what you are doing, without actually cluttering your present work.
Then comes the sharing feature, if you come across content that you find worth sharing, simply press and hold the link and select to share. The suggestion feature that hints out contacts with matching alphabets eliminates the task of looking up contacts or typing them in. With real time syncing to your Gmail account when you first login, the Gmail for G1 fetches all your contacts to the phone and backs them up in case you create a new account. So you also get to forget worrying on losing your contacts if your phone gets lost.
It’ll we nice to get ones hands on to the device and get to feel Google services integrated into it. Perhaps the Android that appears far more bulky than the iPhone may offer more power as well.
