Hot on the heals of Technorati’s plans to launch a Blog Ad Network to compete with Federated Media and Glam, Glam has announced that it has acquired UK based digital marketing firm Monetise to gear up its global ad sales. The plan here is to set up ad operations in Germany, UK, France, Japan and China within the span of an year.

Glam is a network of sites focused on women, covering topics such as fashion, beauty and entertainment. It was launched in 2005 but now has 42 million unique visitors in May 2008 in USA alone, making it the most popular women site. The company also launched Glam Media which serves ads on more than 450 partner sites having similar focus i.e. all things women.

Glam has recently raised $65 million in VC investment and $20 million in debt financing to beef up its global ad sales. The company expects to rack in $100 million in ad revenues in 2008, and increasing it to $250 – $350 million in 2009.
