Photography is an art and one way or the other, a lot of people seems to have some taste of it. Picasa Web Albums provides you an opportunity to upload your snaps and share them. There are a lot of people who don’t want others to see their photos at any other place until they are given credit which they deserve, but once they are given proper credit, they happily allow their snaps to be re-used.
These are the things which Google already knew. In order to give users proper credit of their photos, Picasa Web Albums now allows an option of ‘Creative Commons Licensing’. The license is provided by the company called Creative Commons which is a non-profit group associated with Google.
The license consists of a set of usage rights which are made only for the purpose described above. The Creative Commons License allows users to be the content owner which means that you will be having ownership of your snaps. While remaining the ownership of your stuff, you can also let others use those images.
Also there is an interesting option available with this license according to which you can change the use of terms on your snaps in Picasa Web Albums form all rights reserved to some rights reserved. e.g. You can allow others to use your photos until they acknowledge your work. Simply you can customize the terms of use with this licensing which is cool because everyone has a different approach towards promoting their work.
By default, Google considers all the images uploaded on Picasa Web Albums to be ‘all rights reserved’ by the user. To know further about Creative Commons Licensing, you can go here.
