Google, a commercial customer for the satellite’s imagery service – using GeoEye-1, issued its first image, of Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. This would be a good news for Google Maps’ fans, as these shots will eventually show up on Google Maps and Google Earth.
The first high-resolution photos from GeoEye-1 have arrived, these means photos have started to come in. The satellite’s camera has superb capabilities of capturing image details as small as 41 centimeters, whereas commercial customers are allowed 50 centimeter resolution photos, as per U.S. govt. regulations.
The satellite caught the images at noon EDT Tuesday while moving South at an altitude of 423 miles and a speed of 4.5 miles/sec, stated GeoEye.
