Gazprom-Media, the leading Russian media is nearing a deal to acquire majority stake of RuTube, Russia’s leading independent online video community for $15 million. According to the agreement Gazprom-Media will be investing millions of dollars in the online video site. Currently RuTube has over 40 million video views per month and over 400,000 daily users. The site was launched two years ago and the inspiration behind it was YouTube, this is the reason why it is referred as the YouTube of Russia. Also RuTube is the one of the pioneers of online video community in Russia.
