I thought and even read that Google was recession proof, not until its stalks started to roll down after soaring high above every imaginable value. I came across a similar report stating or should I say asking if the gaming industry is recession proof? Basing my opinion on the recent sales of gaming stations and consoles especially at times when people are considering to have insured gift cards, I think it is. At least for the time being if not forever. One of the most obvious reasons why it may steer clear of the ongoing recession is that people need entertainment. Ron Meiners, director of community for the Hollywood Interactive Group stated:

here are a couple of reasons. One is the traditional value of entertainment during tough economic times. Like the great fantastic musicals in the 30s. Movies did great, because they took people’s mind off of the troubles they were facing. (And) video games have great value as entertainment. The number of hours of solid entertainment that comes from a video game purchase is much greater than a movie, for example, for very comparable cost.

Those are facts from history and that people love having their minds pulled away from the problematic situation they get in. I just believe that the gaming industry will do pretty good business compared to others around the globe.
