The game industry in the United States has scored a 10% increase in sales during November despite the economy severely affecting other sectors. The sales for the last month were $2.9 billion and with that achieved, the company may touch its targeted $22 billion sales this year. The sales have improved given the large number of gaming consoles available for the population and even better games. The NDP stated:

Certainly, the expanded audience for gaming due to the availability of a wider variety of compelling content is a strong contributor. Economic factors are also at play given that a video game is a relatively inexpensive form of entertainment for the hours of value it provides.

Another factor that plays a key role is that games provide a very cheap way to entertain the masses. With almost everything for every age group, the market will thrive, however if only the manufacturers could cut down the prices of the Blu rays, the sales may improve by an even greater margin.
