GameDuell raises $17 million

Gameduell GameDuell; the Berlin based company with more than 10 million registered users and boasts of being the number one game community in Germany has raised a $17 million in its second round of funding from Wellington Partners.

The money that it has raised is planned to be spend at international expansion with plans at making inroads to the US; something already being implemented. The reason; as pointed out by its CEO, Kai Bolik being the very successful marketing strategy that has yielded fruits in both France and Spain.

The company is into developing various skill games that include solitaire, Mahjong, darts etc. the players can compete with other players and win prizes. The current status says that nearly 200,000 games are played everyday at GameDuell. The competition is tough with competitors like WorldWinner that is constantly pulling in crowds.

Currently GameDuell has around 200 media partners and is the third largest online advertiser in Germany with 80 employs. The company was founded in 2003 and is run by Bolik and partners Michael Kalkowski and Boris Wasmuth.
