How do you know you are doing great and are the most said name in the market? Well on quite a lot of things, so many aspects that it’s quite hard to name all and put numbers to give a more concrete outlook of things. Some of those include; how often is your brand mentioned? Where does it stand in the market? How much has it improved over its last year standing? Etc, etc.

Facebook has it all. I mean whatever you pick up about Facebook or associated to it has success written all over it (of course except for the users going mad over the new privacy settings). Be it applications minting success with more users, or brands capitalizing on the platform to increase their fan following, everything you look at shows a graph rising exponentially. Hitwise released a report earlier which put Facebook to be the most search item in 2009, climbing to number one on the list. Now that climb is from No. 10 last, yes it was at number 10 and MySpace stood at first, but in a period of just a year, things have changed drastically, as Facebook stands at a 350 Million user mark  and MySpace continues to dwindle.

Now MySpace shouldn’t be the only one who bore all the brunt, but the list includes the like of YouTube, Yahoo, who have been dwarfed by the social network’s sudden growth. The share percentage of Facebook from the total accounts for an impressive 1.02% and to be honest this is just the beginning. What are the predictions for the year ahead?

Lets move over to the most visited sites. Last year, Facebook stood at number 9 but that is past and the social network now stands at no.3 following Google placed first and Yahoo second. MySpace on the other hand has slid from three last year to number five. Now those stats speak a lot so there is no point in me talking about them over and over. Lets get to knowing why exactly has this turn over happened?

Not that hard to be honest. I will talk about myself and talk as a Facebook user; what makes the social network a winner is the different ways it provides me to interact with the platform. Its no more just about connecting with your old school friends, its more about interaction all around. You have got marketing being done, advertising that is directed as per your liking. I mean the authentic information users put up trusting Facebook actually helps brands to throw out exactly what the user might be interested in, ensuring maximum success for brands.

That is just one perspective, step over to Social gaming and you have an equally impressive arena or to be more precise engaging arena. Farmville and the likes keeping users engaged for hours, doing nothing but farming on virtual farmlands and people are pouring in from every possible destination to use Facebook. This isn’t at all surprising, if you look at what users want and how much Facebook actually offers, you know the reasons why it is successful. Give users a lot to do at one place, from connecting with friends to reading, sharing news, to playing games and why wont they spend more time there?
