The free mobile chat and VoIP app Fring is testing ads on its service now. The service has an iPhone app and works on Windows Mobile and Symbian too, enabling users to make free calls using Skype, Live Messenger, Google Talk, and itself as well. Fring deciding to do some money-making through ads isn’t such a bad move as supposedly it must’ve been testing out its service first, and finally decided it was time to generate some revenue. The banner-ads though will be rolled out with a small selected number of users; as the Fring blog reads:
We wanted to give you the heads-up, as you may soon see small clickable advertising banners in the fring chat window, beneath the chat itself. Clicking the ad will open your browser and take you to the advertiser’s site; you may even find extra special offers, cool promos & other nice surprises behind the click from time to time
And, more clicks mean happy advertisers; and happy advertisers mean more resources for us to develop cool new stuff for you to play with in fring!
