In efforts to speed up its feed updates, FriendFeed has been working on Simple Update Protocol (SUP). FriendFeed announced that it has added several updates to its SUP support which will speed up content/feed updates within seconds. Services using SUP on FriendFeed include Disqus, Brightkite, Identi.ca, BackType, and 12seconds. Co-founder of FriendFeed, Paul Buchheit states:

Whenever one of these feeds is updated, the new entry appears on FriendFeed within seconds.

Twitter’s service is the fastest to import content as it uses XMMP support, though now seems slower as compared to SUP support results. Find out more about SUP here and here.
