FreshBooks, an online invoicing and time-tracking service which recently surpassed 150,000 business users, has released Report Cards, a new business benchmarking service that allows customers to compare their business metrics against similar companies in the same industry. The Report Cards offer an alternative to other research and reporting tools such as Forrester, Hoovers and Dunn & Bradstreet, and will be freely available to FreshBooks customers.

FreshBooks Report Cards captures a business’ performance and shows how it measures up to other companies, specific to their industry. It is anonymously aggregated from the pool of FreshBooks customers that agree to participate, interpreting data from a large group of users and packaging it in an easy-to-read report card format for individual businesses. Reports include average monthly revenue, average size of invoices, average time to get paid, and percentage of customers who pay online versus snail mail.

The Report Cards will surely be useful to small business owners, giving them access to market data that otherwise was only available in expensive research reports. With the growth of FreshBooks userbase the data will also become more representative and valuable.

FreshBooks is privately owned and funded and is based in Toronto, Canada.

Hi I have been using freshbooks for sometime now. The product is good and very effectual. But it does lack some important features like inventory management, which is important for my business. While looking for alternatives I came across a website http://www.invoicera.com. Looked similar to freshbooks but havn’t used the application yet.
