
Microsoft released it’s Security Intelligence Report Showing Malware Increases and Windows Vulnerabilities Decrease.Microsoft mentioned that it’s Malware and Malicious software removal tool was reported to have be used 43% more.In the first six months of this year, there were some 62 million disinfections on 23.8 million machines, according to the report which was published Monday.In the second half of last year, 42 million programs were removed on 15 million computers.
Microsoft mentioned that virus attacks were much less comparatively. Mentioning that people don’t consider about security and rising risks of being “INFECTED and AFFECTED”, causing an increase by 13%. Also mentioning that Vista was more secure than XP due to many security policy’s incorporated to make the users security experience much more painless.
The Important part being that attackers attacked not the OS itself but the application(s). This being 90% of the time. Microsoft blaming users of not updating their windows with updates nor with latest product releases that being said IE6 being much more higher market share than IE 7/IE 8. Also that it was noted that users who update and are enabled with Firewalls are much less effected by security threats.
Microsoft also blames users for users first installing third party apps such as QuickTime or other applications which hackers target and exploit.
