Now when we get some news under embargo, we make sure we delay its publication as much as we can (of course we try and break it some time before the actual release time). But the same rules do not apply everywhere and if you are a name as big as Mustang, no body really wants to miss a chance of leaking information out long before time. The same has happened with Mustang and the platform through which it has been spread is its Fan Page on Facebook.
Mustang is already the leader in the automobile industry when it comes to having fans on Facebook and the news of the upcoming 2011 Ford Mustang has cause quite a stir within its fans. The most important part of the news is that the new Mustang will boast return to it 5.0 litre engine which had been a hit with its previous models. Coming back to the fans, the number rose by a fantastic 6,000 fans taking the count of fans on its official fan page to over 350,000. Impressive, stands as another proof that fans/users do love keeping themselves updates on their favorite products, brands and Facebook is definitely a lead on getting it all at one place.
Other than, it also shows that the social networks are definitely the best way to have the news make ripples. I was just looking through the graph and the stats over the last 31 days are remarkable. The community has been growing regularly, but that spike towards the end speaks volumes; primarily the fact that users engage more often and in bulk when there is news out there and something they are interested in. The gist of all still is that Facebook is considered to be a reliable source of information for users out there and that brands continue to utilize the social network to maximize their fan following and more effectively engage with their fans, no one can really turn away from the presence of the largest social network around.
