Adblock Plus + Content + Semantic Matching = foof
This is the equation Foof believes in and basis its functionality around with the idea springing up from suggestions over various forums. The developers started off with trying to develop something else when they realized that they could integrate their newly found ad replacement feature with Adblock. All it does is use the TextWise‘s semantic matching engine with different content sources that matches the content on the ad boxes.
Whatever Foof replaces within the ad box matches its contents except for pictures. All that you have to
do is install the plugin and once done with that, let Foof do its work. All the ad boxes that have the so unpleasant text all over are replaced by something that is more pleasant and easy on the eyes. What ever replacement it does is relevant to the content of your web sites; you even get to choose the medium from which Foof display the content to you, be it videos, news, blogs and wiki.
I idea does work out a a lot better, and gladly enough the developers thought over and more importantly worked it out to be more practical. It doesn’t put huge icons, slow you down by asking your preferences every now and then. I personally liked the presence it gave to the web pages I visit, putting it straight it rid me of those lame AdSense text based ads etc.
