Floobs is a platform for delivering and monetizing video founded by Kai Lemmetty and Joonas Pekkannen. The startup specializes in live and on-demand video delivery on the web and mobile. It is currently working with sports organization such as La Liga teams including Champions League team Sevilla FC and provides with embeddable videos that can be shared across various social networks like Facebook, MySpace or any other website. Plus it also offers tools for managing the content made by the brand itself and fans around the brand.
It is developing tools to help users manage various types of videos and generate revenue as well as letting publishers know how each video performs and how its performance varies geographically. This can prove to be very helpful for both publishers and advertisers to target the audience with the right thing that engages users effectively.
Key competitors include video services operating in the same field with similar technology. In one hand floobs competes with services like Livestream, Ustream and Kyte to name a few.
The startup is presently focused on serving premium customers – large internationally followed sports teams and leagues. Floobs is launching its web-shop for long tail (smaller, local) sports organizations at webtv.floobs.com later this year. It doesn’t yet have a mobile application and is currently working on it as well, which is a definite need, given that live streaming is more about streaming on the go.
