Fed up Being Reviewed? A.nnotate Your Documentation

Shoaib Hashmi

Annotate LogoReview is an important aspect of documentation. If you get your documentation reviewed by different people, it might lead you anywhere. What if there is a place where your documentation is reviewed by different people in a single review? A.nnotate provides a standard web based documentation solution by assisting in writing and documentation.

No specific plug-in or software is required. Formats that are supported incorporate Microsoft Office, PDF and HTML web pages.

You can register for free or avail the pro user services with  monthly subscription.

Once registered, documents can be uploaded online or sent as an e-mail attachment. Doing this will add the document in your a.nnotate account and an e-mail containing the link is sent back.

For web pages you can send the URL directly or you can add a browser snapshot button on the specific page.

A.nnotate also allows you to enable this feature in your website.

All documents are private by default but they can be shared by inviting users.

Once the document is reviewed, comments from different readers are attached and then sent back to the user making it easier to understand and make changes.

A.nnotate provides an easy way to collect and store detailed notes on documents/web pages.

The site is based on credit system, however, free light user subscription and multiple monthly subscriptions are also available. Unlimited licensing for in-house or dedicated server use is also available.

Using this service will save a lot of time and you won’t get double minded. Instead of taking out printouts and sending it to several people for review, you can just send it to one place online.

There is always a margin of improvement. They can improve by providing other services like an online accounting system (solution).

They are proceeding gradually and will soon introduce a service that will enable you to install and run your own A.nnotate server and integrate the current document. Over all the service is good.
