FCC’s nationwide free wireless broadband plan in jeopardy by White House

Now when the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) was convinced over the White Space spectrum usage, it was White House which ruined it. According to the plan by FCC, the license holder for spectrum usage would have to provide free wireless broadband service. The White House didn’t agree on this and raised its voice in a letter by Carlos Gutierrez, the Commerce Secretary:

The administration believes that the (airwaves) should be auctioned without price or product mandate. The history of FCC spectrum auctions has shown that the potential for problems increases in instances where licensing is overly prescriptive or designed around unproven business models.
