WorldFriends after being quite for a long time recently made a relaunch with additional social features to enhance its dating/socializing/language exchange services. With a purpose of connecting users from different cultures and regions (I know it’s so obvious), the site boasts of charging users for connecting with others more cheaply than a language class.
CEO Dominic Penaloza speaks of the site being a portal for getting travel tips, learning languages (by collaboration with fellows), etc. Seeing all the slide shows (a new feature) of girls (it shows slideshows of the gender you are interested in) and an entire line of new pictures along with a list that has your ideal matches listed.
The site has its network spread across more than 200 countries with almost 2 million global members. It also has partnership deal with Yahoo Japan along with numerous others, but that doesn’t make me go out and use the service, added with a SUBSCRIPTION FEE that totals to just under $250 for a year! Why in the world should one pay to get connected with folks around the world when you have Facebook, Orkut, MySpace already there free of charge? To me its a pure dating site, working hard to get you friends (a.k.a dates). I would seriously advice users to spend some time walking down the street instead of using the service.
