Time goes by pretty quick, I still remember very clearly that I started my university around the same time when Facebook was launched and Orkut was reigning supreme and so was MySpace. To be honest I always thought that Facebook wouldn’t go ahead. I was so wrong, so very wrong and I regret why I wasn’t the early adopters of the social network.
From starting off as a connecting platform all the way to growing over 350 million users, the social network has been nothing short of sensation, evolving rapidly in the last one year primarily. Pick anything up associated to the network and all you read is a rapid rise in usage. Facebook Connect that connects over 60 million pages at present and over 1.9 billion pages that are currently indexed by Google. Those are jus a few of the major achievements and numbers, the platform on whole has expanded for the good of everyone around.
Where could developers have found a place to produce applications that keep the users engaged for hours? No matter how much I hate Zynga for giving the people Farmville to do absolutely but this game alone brought in more than $180 Million from DST that is definitely trying to be a major stake holder in Facebook after Microsoft. While the revenue model is definitely a big worry for all those involved with Facebook, the social network is predicted to raise more than $700 Million in the current year and that doesn’t mean it will be introducing any paid options for its users.
While we can all continue to talk about Facebook, I will just end this one right away and wish Facebook a very happy birthday!
