Have you heard about Professional Beggars or really desperate folks begging for attention? Take Facebook for example, the social network is now pasting a massive notification on your Facebook page to set it as a homepage on your browser. I like the network much as everyone else does, but hello! There are more important pages that we might like and be more interested to set as homepage.
This isn’t a big deal of course but it reflects how the social network is bent upon making itself the center of everything, perhaps the Universe itself. The idea is obvious, to keep users locked within its web and it is is the first page every user comes across when thy open their browser. We should have been anticipating this, especially after the f8 and its plans to spread itself across ever page and site on the Web.
I personally think it initially needs no such things as it is already the dominant site when it comes to user spending more time and an enormous amount of Page Views. With more of its 400 million or so users opting to make it the homepage, it will gain tremendously on both. Whatever the case be, I just don’t like this move, personally.
