Facebook to release new version for its iPhone App

Sardar Mohkim Khan

Facebook_Mark_Zuckerberg There is news in the air that Facebook is planning to launch a new and better version for the iPhone apps by September and it is deemed to make the application appear more like the new website’s new design. Now was this the reason why the original site had been redesigned as it has been?

Eric Eldon puts up quite well and the idea appears pretty logical given the rise in users switching over to their mobile devices; they would find it easier to be at ease with similar design on the web and the mobile version. The actual problem comes with users who are accustomed to using the web version and find it extremely difficult to get used to the design over the mobile device. Plus Facebook will find it easier to hit on the masses in various countries that have a growing trend of going mobile and where Facebook is already popular.

Facebook_Newsfeeds The new app is set to bring out a lot of alterations to the previous one that only showed status messages for the users. The new version shows quite a lot of features including images, links and various other things. The whole thing is more like browsing the web version and not some cut-off of the original site.

What could be the reason to build such a n extended version? Getting the advertisers to pay for putting their ads for a longer duration is a plain and very obvious reason. Now that doesn’t mean it’s the only reason why Facebook has done the, the objective to make users feel at ease is one major and we have to give due credit to the team for this.

There are other new features that include receiving notifications and the ability to search and approve new friends and an added ability to view older messages which were previously limited to a mere 30 messages in version 1.1. And more is there to explore as the new version waits to make way next month.

Now all’s good here but I hope the don’t put up ‘ad our rates’, the ‘name-change to Obama’ or start putting up accusations or get accused for stealing ideas as the web version has seen. I would still keep myself at some distance from all this and see what users say of it after experience.
