At times we just ignore the achievements and growth of someone in the light of giants making big leaps and its quite similar in the Web world too. While we get to hear so much about Facebook and MySpace; another social network hi5 is left unnoticed. Why should it be noticed if at all when we have the other two? Well the reason is that despite being an underdog, hi5 is expanding its horizons at a much higher rate as compared to the other two.
According to MG Siegler, hi5 has grown by over 79% in the half of 2008, almost double of what the top social networks have achieved so far. The unique visitors have increased by a figure of around 25 million to 56.4 million (December 2007 stats read them to be 31.4 million).
However an interesting fact here is that almost 80% of its user-base comes from outside US. Once again we see a trend that social networks based in US fail to beat MySpace (we recently put up a comparison between Facebook and MySpace users in the US).
Facebook has been making strides with the launch of Facebook Connect and MySpace closing up with OpenID. But hi5, without popping up with news has still managed to show.
