Facebook is about engagement for sure and I guess I was too lost in being engaged talking about it earlier that I missed this one. Facebook has its own URL shortener and it has been spotted as Facebook automatically cut short log URLs with FB.me form for the mobile version of Facebook. And it is going to be a hit for sure. Why? Isn’t that obvious?
350 Million users to begin with, it is quite clear the shortener will be more widely used as it is integrated into the link sharing across the social network’s platform. Plus if it’s doing it automatically, it makes it the default shortener and eliminates any and every competition right away but that is a different story. There is no issue understanding how it works, very simply, you can also manually assign the short url by replacing facebook.com with FB.me/username, which makes it even simpler. For example you can simply type in fb.me/smohkim.khan as a link to my profile just to save the effort of typing the whole thing. So another one of those Twitter actions replicated in Facebook. Is the social network planning to have a microblogging service too? We know it has Facebook Lite (is is really supposed to be a Twitter replacement?).
