Errors keep surfacing more often when you are handling a platform as large as Facebook. But downtime, inaccessibility is quite tolerable but when things as serious as mails going to random people begin to occur, it is indigestible. Think of it if you are sharing some useful information across a private message to a close friend or family member and it ends up into a totally random person’s inbox. I find it very worrying.

A similar thing happened with Facebook as emails began being sent to people randomly. It didn’t cause any major issues as the technical team was quick to fix it pretty soon after it broke free. However those affected by the problem were barred from accessing the social network. As for the exact numbers, Facebook hasn’t spoken about how many were affected.

As I said earlier, if the account is inaccessible for some time, I don’t mind it. But the major issue is with privacy, I mean think of the hazard each of those users affected were left prone to. Especially given the fact that privacy has been a major reason for so many controversies. Sadly enough this isn’t the first it has happened nor is this the last as Facebook always manages to find a way to get in trouble and conflict with users’ interest.
