What I currently miss out on Facebook, especially the content I share on the Startup Meme fanpage is having the stats on the stories I share there. But I guess that missing feature is already been put to test as a small presentation in Poland hints at a possible analytical tool for post. This would enable administrators to track the total impressions and the level of engagement on each post.

While the general users may not actually find it any useful, it will be of great value for administrators. Why? Well to me the number of fans isn’t the only thing that I look forward to. Seriously having a thousand fans and zero engagement isn’t doing me any good save for boasting about a zombie like community. I don’t know where I lack and what sort of post actually get fans’ attention. Of course we already have the insights options available but that just provides a very generalized view on use engagement but if this were to come up, I bet it will add loads of value to work on and know what to focus more on.

The presentation also highlighted other notable steps that are to be implemented. One of those is removal of banner ads, like it has already when Facebook removed ads from Microsoft in regions outside US. The other feature is associated to the availability of Real Time data to help targeting ads, this would prove beneficial for throwing out relevant ads for each user based on what statuses and information they share. Mark’s say on Privacy is no more a social norm makes quite a lot of sense as we can now see what would going public bring for Facebook.
