A number of users today reported about the performance and availability issues with the popular social network, Facebook. Some faced slowness while loading the page, while according to some the third party desktop apps which connect to the social network became unavailable. The chat feature also became unavailable. According to an email sent by Facebook’s spokesperson to CNET:

As a result of a network device failure, a very small percentage of users lost access to Facebook for a short period of time earlier today. The site has now been restored and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

    I've been able to log in to Facebook all day, it's now 1:15 and it still is returning the message "Account Temporarily Unavailable.

    Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes."
