Facebook is growing, well to be honest it sounds very repetitive but it is. Today Facebook crossed the 350 Million user mark and its CEO, Mark Zuckerberg took it as an opportunity to write a letter about the revamping of privacy coming up over the next week. But first, the social network has been growing exponentially, averaging a growth of over 50 million users each month in the last three months or so. That is by all means BIG.
Stepping over to changes, well Facebook might rid itself of private regional networks, given that many of those regional private networks have members in millions. Other than that, users will be shown a page dedicated to guide them through those changes and they will be provided with recommendations, which they can accept or change as per wish. Well I am not sure how users respond to these recommendations, given that many users still don’t share content with everyone on the network, which will definitely take some time. However each of these changes will be more than welcome, given that users will have the power to decide what they want to take or drop.
I guess this is the primary reason why Facebook has done well over time. The whole idea of giving users a chance to actually get speaking on things/features they want or not is always a winner since you are engaging them and giving them a feel that they are participating in developing of the network in some manner.
I just wonder who is gong to rise up and challenge Facebook in the social networking scene? Google? Microsoft?

[...] 350 Million users to begin with, it is quite clear the shortener will be more widely used as it is integrated into the link sharing across the social network’s platform. Plus if it’s doing it automatically, it makes it the default shortener and eliminates any and every competition right away but that is a different story. There is no issue understanding how it works, very simply, you can also manually assign the short url by replacing facebook.com with FB.me/username, which makes it even simpler. For example you can simply type in fb.me/smohkim.khan as a link to my profile just to save the effort of typing the whole thing. So another one of those Twitter actions replicated in Facebook.
