Things are definitely adopting fast to the Internet and its great but I was shocked reading about a husband killing his wife over a row on Facebook. Talk about online social networks going from good to worse. It’s a sad news, people use places like Facebook, Orkut, MySpace, etc for fun but today’s report and a couple more of the sort have shown that they can actually go about totally off-track.
It’s not Facebook’s fault, why would it be? But it just shows how seriously folks consider it to be more closer to real life. The report revealed a pretty clumsy reason for such a horrible act.
Wayne Forrester (husband) was thrown apart seeing his wife, Emma change her status to single on Facebook. Infuriated and more importantly drunk, the man charged upon her and committed the crime (I am disgusted and wont go into details). It’s becoming quite ridiculing with time and there had been an earlier report of a boy committing suicide as his friends bullied him for his appearance. I thought hacking was the only crime that could branch out from world of Internet but this leading to murders and suicides…
The present act just reveals how far can an online social network impact the way people behave. Making friends, finding the loved one, discovering places was all the good side of this world. Status changes, odd hairstyles leading to murder and suicide is the ugly side. Who’s responsible? Sadly it’s not technology, but the human beings who build and use it.
