It’s not Facebook who is at fault always. Especially when it comes to Pakistan, the latest report state that many a users in the country are facing issues accessing the social network and logging in to their profiles. The problem? The country’s broadband provider, PTCL appears to have its users accessing random profiles using their own login credentials.

The issue has spread itself to Twitter as well and there have been many a reports of similar problems with Twitter users too. It is sad how this is happening and what actually is causing the issue. Facebook in the meantime has taken a very intelligent and prompt action by blocking the PTCL IP and displaying users with the following warning and request for Facebook to grant access.

I personally think the decision is wise given how this absolutely absurd flaw can lead to privacy issues and then the users of the social networks will be blaming the sites for identity theft. The block is only on PTCL users and I think it should prevail till the time it is fully resolved. I might sound harsh, but if it is only the fault of the broadband provider they must act quick and resolve it. They might have access to any profile and there must be some rogue users out there that would cease the opportunity and create a huge mess, given how much information each user must be sharing on the social network, especially the photographs and contact details.

Anyone of you users from Pakistan who are using PTCL, please let us know when the problem actually started and if the issue has been resolved.

Update: Appears that the issue has been prevalent for the last 3 days and is affecting Flickr and Google users as well. Some users report that they end up signing in as a different user and cannot log out, no matter how much they try. Also the profiles accessed are primarily of those who share most mutual friends.
