Europeana, EU’s very own digital library, is now fully operational once again. The library was launched last month as an answer to Google Book Search, but was immediately overwhelmed by immense user demand peaking to 10 million hits in less than an hour. The servers were simply unable to handle all this and just gave in.

Europeana currently has 2 million digitized books, and plans to have around 10 million in the coming years.
