Eurekster, a social search engine provider founded in late 2003, has been down for the last couple of days. The user base of Eurekster is now wondering if they could avail the services soon.
Christchurch, New Zealand based company which started its personalized search in January 2004, hosts around 100,000 Swickis. Swicki is a service of Eurekster which lets the site owners highlight other sites to be added to Swicki search results. ReadWriteWeb has availed Swicki services for a while as does other online communities and blogs. Swicki has also joined Eurekster in the list of unavailable online services.
Although the major executives like Tac Leung, VP of Product Development and Blair Cassidy, VP of Engineering, have departed according to their LinkedIn profiles but they still appear on the management page of the company. Eurekster and Swicki has observed a decline in traffic since their departure at the beginning of 2008.
A message on Twitter by Channel Marketing Manager at Eurekster, couple of days back read:
“temporary service outage on http://www.eurekster.com . Swickis will be back shortly.”
Although the services are unavailable, it is a good time for company’s top management to analyse their declining performance, identify the loop holes and work it out adequately. Lets hope that the service becomes available soon.
