eRepublik makes strategy games more social and brings them to the Web; Raises $1M

logo_erepublikeRepublik, a Spanish startup, is out to take strategy games and make them more social, interactive, and fun. Their basic aim is to change the way strategy games are played, by simply taking out the hours of game play. That might sound like taking out the basic idea from these sort of games, though eRepublik does some justice to it as well.

It has built an online virtual geo-political simulator that has the capability to allow players to ‘make history’, through which they can save a lot of time… and only logging in and having fifteen minutes of daily game play. It’s of course browser based and free, both of which most strategy games do not offer.

The company has raised $1 million, and is currently in private beta. Here’s a video that the company released, worth watching.
