A brand new music portal, EMI.com, has been launched by music group EMI.
Like many popular sites, MySpace music and imeem, the site offers you to stream music and videos with additional options to purchase music owing to affiliate deals with Apple (AAPL) or Amazon (AMZN). The site provides options for fans to discover new music and musicians. It also gives artists another platform to showcase their music.
The bad news for U.S. listeners is that, you can only listen to 30seconds of the song while U.K. based listeners can listen to complete songs.
EMI.com is designed to be a learning lab. It will help us gain even more knowledge about consumers’ preferences and choices. Those insights will be invaluable to our artists, helping them respond to fans in a more relevant way,” said Alex Haar, Vice President of Digital Special Projects at EMI Music. “This is the beginning of a longer term experiment. In the coming months, we will continue to add content and features to the site.
