Electronic Arts blanketed with more lawsuits

Electronics Arts is once again under the cloud of controversies or should I say had been under one all the while. The current ones are about lawsuits filed against EA’s use of its debated SecuROM DRM software. The problem highlighted states that the SecuROM installs itself automatically into the system, which of course is unlawful by any and every means. This sounds pretty irresponsible coming from Electronic Arts and an even bigger problem is that it doesn’t get completely un-installed, leaving users with an option to format their systems only. Here’s a part of the original news:

The inclusion of undisclosed, secretly installed DRM protection measures with a program that was freely distributed constitutes a major violation of computer owners’ absolute right to control what does and what does not get loaded onto their computers, and how their computers shall be used…

[SecuROM] cannot be completely uninstalled. Once installed it becomes a permanent part of the consumer’s software portfolio…

EA’s EULA for Spore Creature Creator Free Trial Edition makes utterly no mention of any Technical Protection Measures, DRM technology, or SecuROM whatsoever.
