Drop.io, an online file hosting and sharing platform that offers users cheap and easy way to keep their binary load from weighing in on their machines is coming up with another useful update. They had previously introduced a browser plugin to make accessibility to users Drop.io’s account easy and currently they have introduced geo-location as Allen Stern reports.
The introduction of geo-location has Drop.io make a move away from its previous methodology of locating drops via designated URLs. This also make indexing using location based identities much more easy and efficient. This lets users assign a real address or location to any drops they make at Drop.io.
The feature utilizes a JavaScript API by Loki, developed by Skyhook Wireless and figures out ones position across a map and then fix up any number of files.
The feature is accessible by simply clicking on the Edit Drop link to the top right of the page and then selecting the option for Location found in Access Control in the page that follows.
We think it’s an interesting feature to add in the Drop.io armory and makes the entire service usable in a much more easier way.
