Dropbox Open To Public

image thumb153 Dropbox Open To Public Dropbox is your one stop solution to file sharing and syncing needs. It’s one of the most simplest file sharing service you’ll ever come across, and doesn’t require many clicks to get the job done. Along with the file back ups and syncs it lets you share them with anyone you want using a public URL.

Dropbox opened up to public yesterday, as it was in an invite only beta earlier. Dropbox is providing 2 GB of free storage space users at the moment. It’s desktop client is available for all operating systems, Windows, Mac and Linux.

After installing the client, any files you put into the home directory of the client, called ‘My Dropbox’ will automatically be synced to your online Dropbox. You can also share those files with anyone right from your desktop by placing the files in the public folder of your drop box and right clicking on it to grab the URL. Files transferred through the desktop client have no size limits, but for the web interface they have to be less than 350 MB. And if 2 GB is too less for you, you’ll soon be able to get a 50GB Dropbox for $9.99 per month.

If you have multiple computers, you can add them to you Dropbox account, so that your files would stay in sync across all your systems. This is what Live Mesh does as well, and Syncplicity.

Syncplicity does all what Dropbox does, and doesn’t restrict you to put files in the home folder of the Desktop client. It lets you add any folder you want to your online storage. This is a major drawback in Dropbox. If you have no issues with this, then Dropbox is a good service, with a clean web interface and fast navigation.
