Docstoc is an online community to find and share professional documents and provides a platform for users to upload and share their documents all across the globe. And it has launched a new desktop utility that eliminates the need of sending an email attachment.
The service at present is not available for Mac users as a Mac version is being worked upon. The new utility is called Docstoc OneClick; that allows you to upload any document on your desktop by simply using the right click without any added chores. A link is generated and is inserted into a message in the default web client.
There is more in offer apart from the right-click feature, it enables you to upload multiple files, embed code and add other data to your documents. Something that comes as a gift for those who love desktops apps and Docstoc allows you to share documents online offering the same functions as that of a website.
Now this doesn’t eliminate the time consuming task of attaching emails, as the person at the receiving end still has to go through the enormously painful task of downloading a mega heavy PDF document or a PowerPoint presentation. So what? I still consider it to be a step ahead; the major difference that makes Docstoc sound and feel pretty easy is that you don’t have to send a PDF file rather a direct link once you have uploaded it at Docstoc. And then there is the ease with which you can upload your files on the site.
With the recent launch of Adobe’s document sharing service at Acrobat.com and Drop.io partnering with Scribd for integrating the iPaper solution. Docstoc’s recent raise of $3.25 million for an ignition has to keep apace and continue the killing of email attachments.
